However, in the information age, fast-food-style reading, superficial reading, and fragmented reading have become the norm for many students. Such cursory reading is detrimental to cultivating students’ holistic awareness, failing to expand their reading horizons or help them build experience in reading whole books. In contrast, whole-book reading is crucial for grasping the essence of classic works. The key to whole-book reading lies in making students willing to read, enjoy reading, and delve deeply into the text. Teachers can facilitate the smooth progress of whole-book reading by delivering excellent introduction classes, conducting appreciation sessions, carefully designing tasks, and organizing guided inquiry and exchange activities. Only when students find joy in reading can core competencies be truly realized.</p> Wenhui Diao Copyright (c) 2025 Author(s) 2025-09-04 2025-09-04 7 8 210 216 10.26689/erd.v7i8.11805 Exploration of Discipline and Specialty Development Paths for Education under the Vision of “New Liberal Arts” https://www.bbwpublisher.com/index.php/erd/article/view/11809 <p>The “New Liberal Arts” aims to drastically reform traditional liberal arts education, promote interdisciplinary integration between the humanities and sciences, gradually incorporate new technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data into liberal arts teaching, and guide students to engage in cross-disciplinary and cross-field learning to enhance their core competencies. Drawing on Complex Adaptive System (CAS) theory, this study constructs a dynamic analytical framework for resilience governance in university one-stop communities. Through case studies of representative Chinese universities, it identifies practical bottlenecks in functional resilience (e.g., insufficient facility redundancy), managerial resilience (e.g., low coordination efficiency), and social resilience (e.g., weak participatory mechanisms). The research reveals that resilience generation in university communities relies on multi-agent self-organization, adaptive learning, and nonlinear feedback mechanisms. A “three-dimensional synergy” pathway is proposed: strengthening functional resilience through smart infrastructure, optimizing managerial resilience via collaborative networks spanning “university-college-community-dormitory” hierarchies, and cultivating social resilience through cultural immersion and participatory governance. The innovation lies in introducing CAS theory to university governance, proposing a dynamic adaptation model that offers a systematic solution with theoretical depth and practical relevance for addressing uncertainties.</p> Wan Peng Copyright (c) 2025 Author(s) 2025-09-04 2025-09-04 7 8 224 229 10.26689/erd.v7i8.11823 An Analysis of Blended Teaching Mode for Language Courses under the Background of New Liberal Arts: Taking “Modern Chinese” as an Example https://www.bbwpublisher.com/index.php/erd/article/view/11824 <p>Against the backdrop of new liberal arts construction, integrating information technology into the practical teaching of “Modern Chinese” can, on the one hand, inject new momentum into teaching, and on the other hand, help realize the advancement of “Modern Chinese” teaching with the times, thus effectively fulfilling the fundamental goal of fostering virtue through education.
