Clinical Effect of Modified Continuous Locking Suture for Wound Reconstruction After Cold Knife Conization of the Cervix

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of modified continuous locking suture for wound reconstruction after cold knife conization (CKC) of the cervix. Methods: A total of 100 patients with high‑grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL) who underwent CKC between July 2022 and December 2023 were enrolled and divided into a study group (modified continuous locking suture, n = 50) and a control group (traditional U‑shaped suture, n = 50). Perioperative indicators and follow‑up outcomes were compared between the two groups. Results: Operative time, intraoperative blood loss, and hospital stay in the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P < 0.001). No statistically significant differences were observed between the two groups in terms of late postoperative bleeding, fever, margin negativity, satisfactory cervical molding, wound healing at 3 months, satisfactory cervical shaping at 6 months, cervical stenosis at 12 months, or HPV clearance rate (all P > 0.05). Conclusion: The modified continuous locking suture can shorten operative time and reduce blood loss without increasing the risk of complications, representing a safe and effective option for wound reconstruction after cervical conization.
