The Positive Impacts of Chorus on Junior High School Emotion Regulation and Mental Health
The junior high school stage is a vital transition for adolescents’ physicalmental development and psychological formation. Puberty causes sharp emotional swings in teenagers, making them vulnerable to anxiety, loneliness and interpersonalrelated psychological problems. Traditional mentalhealth education with single teaching modes yields unsatisfactory outcomes; hence, effective psychological intervention methods are urgently required. This paper adopts literature review, classroom observation and casestudy analysis, taking campus group chorus as the research object to explore its influences on junior highschool students’ emotion regulation and mental health conditions. Data show that chorus mitigates junior high students’ negative emotions, enhances emotional competence, lessens adolescent loneliness and anxiety, and facilitates peer interaction. It functions via emotional catharsis, establishment of social support and belonging, cognitive reappraisal, as well as positive experience generation. Chorus combines aesthetic education with psychological cultivation, acting as an implicit mentaleducation carrier. Incorporating chorus into routine campus aesthetic and psychological education systems can greatly promote adolescents’ physical and mental health and cultivate healthy personalities.
